  • Can't recommend highly enough!" - We stayed for 3 nights at Puddleduck Valley and didn't want to leave, a sign of a great holiday! Our hosts Melanie, Phil and girls were superb and went out of our way to make us feel welcome. within minutes of arriving our kids were off feeding baby goats, collecting eggs and walking the rabbits (yes, really!). The chocolate cupcakes on arrival were also a lovely touch. We stayed in the Stables which was perfect for our needs. The kids loved the triple bunk beds and our room was a great size with a fab bathroom. The kitchen was one of the best equipped we've had self catering so have everything we needed. It's the small things that made a difference too. The age appropriate toys in the bedrooms, pond dipping equipment, lots of ideas for activities and the highlight of the trip......the evening campfire with marshmallows and baking bread on sticks! Lots of activities nearby also, beautiful beaches, great food. All in all, we will definitely be returning! if you've got kids and love the outdoors, this is the place for you.

  • What a great place - My wife and son spent 3 days at Puddleduck Valley over the Easter weekend 2016. It was great. Farmers Phil and Melanie could not be more welcoming and their daughters are a credit to them. The accommodation is clean and very nice, we stayed in the Apple loft suite which was well appointed with everything you would need. The bed is HUGE and very comfortable. Just watch your head if your tall! The farm is great with fresh eggs every day. Phil and Melanie do a morning 'feeding' session where the kids (and adults) can go and help look after the animals, feed and pet them. Overall a very enjoyable few days away! P.S. Make sure you take wellies with you!!!!

  • Barley top Yurt - 3 night stay in April - 2 Adults 2 Children - Myself, my wife an 2 children stayed at in the Barleytop Yurt in April 2016. The Yurt is amazing, there is a very comfortable double bed with iron headboard and 2 single beds which the children used, also in the Yurt is a wood burner, table and chairs along with 2 comfortable lounge chairs, 2 chest of drawers, one with mirror and another set of cupboards which contains plates cups a camping kettle, cutlery etc as well as coffee tea and sugar. 2 minutes walk away to the house there is a very well equipped stone floored modern kitchen which has further plates, cutlery etc along with 2 fridge freezers, one for barley top and 1 for snuggled down, there is also a cooker and electric kettle as well as a microwave and toaster. next to the kitchen is a bright dining room which doubles as a playroom - this has two dining tables and plenty of chairs and a highchair. opposite the kitchen is your own dedicated shower facilities with toilet and sink, these are sparkling clean and very modern with lovely flag stone flooring. On arrival we received a warm welcome and the timings coincided with the feeding of the goats, rabbits, chicks and chickens which we all loved particularly the children who were encouraged to handle all the animals which made it all the more special. The accommodation was wonderful, there is no electricity in the Yurt although there are contained alter candles on either side of the bed and a battery powered lantern. The double bed was very comfortable and the toy train set under the bed was a lovely surprise for the children. the internal is wonderfully decorated in the style of a narrow boat with hand painted red beams with a clear view to the stars at the top. the door is very low - watch your head.... without leaving too much detail - The Thompsons are the most welcoming and friendly family you would ever wish to meet. The children enjoyed collecting the eggs for breakfast and feeding and learning about the individual animals / pets. - be sure to explore the lakes and walk the nature trail to the clay face table and the old knotted tree. I would recommend this 100%. The whole experience is one we will never forget as a family - we laughed, smiled, got muddy and laughed even more. Wellies are essential!! a Powerbank for your mobile phone is a good idea a few powerful torches are also a must A special thank you to Abigail and Heidi, happy stargazing x
